What would be an easy way to cure the carb clearance of the bonnet?

From what I saw on Facebook it doesn't look like you'll have clearance issues, bare in mind the pulley didn't used to be the highest part of the engine.

Get it ready for the 24th of April for the 16v RR day!

Cheers for the comments Richard, everyone spots me @ ace but I never have an idea who people are!

Shaz, yeah I just thought at the moment the highest point of the engine will be the top of the cam belt, but then again, my bonnet like all bonnets slope down & where the carbs are it might foul on the front of the bonnet.

Tbh, it's not the thing to worry about...at the moment, I think I'll put it on the back burner for now as putting the bonnet on will be the last thing I do.

But it was a good thing Ben mentioned it as it didn't even enter my mind!

    Cheers guys!

It won't be ready for the RR day, as I don't get paid until the 25th & that'll be paying for tax & insurance!

A week later I'd have loved it but, next time will be perfect!

Just so my thread doesn't get lost in the big bad archives, I'll do a little update.

My friend suggested while my engine was out on the stand I should just take the head off to change the head gasket just as a precaution.
So I took the advice on board & done it, then while my head was off I got another suggestion to get the ports matched & a slight polish.
So that is where it is at the moment, getting a bit of head work.

Pictures will follow when I get on a laptop & will show pics of my show cage & sorting surface rust out.

    Right, very disheartening update!

Gave my head to a machinist on the 29th march (there abouts) to have some head work done 420 worth. This included port matching & polishing.
I'll admit I was a bit late to give the guy the gaskets due to being on a tight budget but when I did get them I said I'd link him to give them to him as he lives closer than the shop. But he didn't text me when he was free.
I understand that this is a time consuming process but it is coming up to two months & I did request to have it finished before June.
Should I hold out & let him continue the work or take my head back...

Another thing...the show cage I shouldn't have bought had the ends cut off where you'd bold it to the floor, so my mate had to make sleeves for the cage to sit in & we then welded plates to the sleeves so that the cage could be bolted down again!

I feel really let down by the owner of the cage that I got but feel time has gone to far to have a winge at him.
As for the head, I feel like stopping the whole process & giving up!
