...and what kind of reading would it give?

I just popped out to pick up a pizza and went past a camera - I know I was not speeding. Hell, I was staring right at the speedo, doing an indicated 29 (if that) in a 30.

Silver Renault 5 hoons past on the opposite side of the road and flash - flash the camera goes off. I think I was still just inside the little white road markings...so am I going to get a ticket?[xx(] Can I contest it on the grounds that the camera is faulty?

Really ruined my Sunday evening this has...

You'll be fine. Firstly the radar should show your speed as less than 30. Also the markings on the road will be used with the time between photos. This will calculate your speed to be less.

Modern smaller boxed speed cameras can work both ways I believe. Unlike older big ones.

yes you can set off cameras on the other side by speeding through them. have done it myself.

seems a good thread to ask this question.

Gatso do you from behind, s****** s******!
Truvelos do you from the front.

On the A1 today there is a Truvelo pointing in the direction to do you from behind, no the usual on coming position, has some joker changed it round or can they do you from behind?

there's a camera near us on a dual carriageway that's 40 max, I set it off when I'm travelling the other way. The camera is on the pavement on the other side of the road!

I know that one - have been on the same side of it as someone on the other side set it off - no ticket so I wouldn't worry.

practically every camera ive come across will flash if you go past too fast in the other direction

lard, think about it, those line on the floor are to prove how fast you were going, if you went through at 29 and it flashed, the lines on the road are also going to show you went through at 29

    dont worry about it

and why don't the speed camera vigilantes re-position the white lines with 33% more space inbetween them?

I went through one with the lines on the floor at just under 30mph in a 30 limit, and a motorbike went passed in the opposite direction and set it off! I phoned the scamera people up, a little concerned, but they assured me, as long as I was not breaking the limit I had nothing to worry about.

They were right, nothing came through the post.
