I am absolutely loving it personally. Should be absolutely awesome with the new lightweight chassis.

I have to say, regretfully, that I think it looks absolutely hideous

I much prefer the mk6 GTI look - the rear in particular has been a bit massacred

For me, cars all look too similar now, I wish they would reinvent the mk1&2 look, go back to their roots a little, maybe give it some sort of quad light look and make it look more aggressive - wishful thinking! It just looks like every other rep mobile Audi/Vauxhall/Ford etc that is being flung out on the market now. Not for me :thumbd:

I dont expect anyone on here to like it. Unless it was a brand new Mk2. LOL

Good photos though mate - I'm not against new cars at all, I just dont like the mass produced look - there is no individuality these days.

I don't think they've stayed true to the GTI look, when you see that even BMW mini managed to retain some of the characteristics of the original car and then you look at this and it is unrecognisable.

    Its an evolution.

Modern cars could NEVER look like a Mk1/2 could they? They have to meet aerodynamic and safety criteria.

It happens every time there is a new Golf released on here.

Its not too bad, But to be honest its not massively dissimilar to mine. Obviously a new chassis but we will have to wait for the road tests to see if all that work has paid off!

Agree, its not radically different. But the chassis tweaks, and power pack should make it a hoot to drive.

The three things i wanted VW to do were: Approved remap/performance upgrade, big brake options and a proper diff.

Looks like they have listened on all counts. Hope the power pack is reasaonably priced.

 ... for a better impression than the Mk6

Quite daring for VW ... that full width red stripe and slight change of wheel design

    As regards the ...
    A `real GTI driver` should not need these ...

A more purposeful pack would have added 50bhp - four / six pot calipers - Akropovic exhaust and deleted many of the creature comfort items

The the Golf+ Mag today Revo have released upgrades for the E35. +57bhp for Stage 1, +100bhp for Stage 2 & +134bhp for Stage 2 plus!
Do we know the details about this engine on what could be done by other tuners?

    I like it

As Mat said, it does look similar to the mk6. Not a bad thing as I like the mk6 too.

Interior looks great and power pack sounds interesting.

All in all it looks great

I've still got the Mk6 R in mind for my next car though ;)

This is VW though. They play it safe for the masses. Your general housewife might like the power pack, but that doesnt mean she wants the car screaming at her and brakes good enough for track.

At least VW are listening. They will NEVER release a GTI RS. lol.

Mk6 R is awesome, but this chassis will blow it away.

Yes, potentially rumoured to have the 2.5 lump, but its very unlikely. Its more likely to have the same 296ps engine that the new S3 is getting. Which will be quite amazing!!!

It would be awesome Andy, but hints are that it will be the "Edition 40" that gets the carbon treatment. If so, it's 4 years wait. :(

With up to 200kg shed from the weight, it would be immense!!
