Hi there I have to confess to having a bit of a 'thing' for suspension components....sad I know....but there we are lol So following on from the recent thread about the Frazero golf http://www.clubgti.com/showthread.php?257545-Yellow-Frazero-Mk4 I thought it would be handy to collect together the pics we have of front hub / upright parts. So we will start with the daddie...perhaps the most sophisticated FWD front upright yet made for a VAG car (?), the Ibiza F2 Kitcar upright I had these in my hands...seem to recall the price was 3K a pair So next, the Mk1 Leon Supercopa Some kind of very tasty looking Golf The aforementioned Frazero Golf along with a very interesting discussion taking place on the Corrado forum about getting some billet uprights made....yes please! http://the-corrado.net/showthread.p...6-custom-Alu-billet-hubs-uprights-*not-cheap* Shine Racing SRS hubs on a well known Mk1 Golf And I know these are rear hubs, but I had to stick them in as they are so nice! Should stimulate some discussion. Over weekend will stick up what I have from the newer models. Ave it Rob
Mk4 Golf vs Mk1 TT / R32 / Mk1 Leon Cupra R http://www.myturbodiesel.com/1000q/a4/audi-tt-spindle.htm Mk4 H2Sport spindles http://www.h2salesandservice.com/Sport-Spindle-p/spindle-assy.htm Mk5 Golf vs B6 Passat (lovely aluminium castings) Passat vs Mk2 TT Things are clearly moving on a lot each year - std parts becoming very sophisticated
its the other way around. passat B6 or TT vs Golf Mk6 Thats a Golf Mk5 uppright Bin dreaming for a while about building a racecar with TT-rs front suspension on my spare ibiza shell. they look alot like the ibiza kit car upprights.
Rob, what a lot of suspension upright pictures you have........ I can see what you mean though, that rear beam is nice isn't it. I've a plan to build one of those as I'm sure I've said before. The TT uprights look like they might be a good upgrade for the MK1. One for my upgrade list for the end of next season
Nice collection of photos Rob. The rear axel is a mk3 golf supertourning one, as you probably know! Ive been hunting for one for the last year a lovely piece of kit. I was speaking to a chap who is working at Frazero and they still have all the CAD drawings for the uprights and would possibly put these back into production along with a load of other Frazero bits. If your interested i could give him a shout. I did have some photos of the Audi touring car hubs from the 90's they were mega, but cant find where ive saved them now!
Is this the thread on the corrado forum? Link already above inpost 1. I would be interested in a set if this happens.
jonlikescad on here works for that company. I'm waiting on a set of solid steering rack mounts from him.
A couple i have Ibiza Kit car from when i was chatting with cabilas earlier in the year. EVO 1 Rob ? The Seat Toledo on centre locks with near identical hubs. Can't find the Audi Sport ones. Supertouringcar spares had them for sale, was thinking about buying them for the Audi project, was 1000 each used.
Yep Jon is the guy, got him looking at a few bits for me inc the uprights. Edit: Yep thats the same guy with the thread on the corrado forum.
Its not Evo2 as the arb is in the wrong place, the ones at the top in post 1 are evo2, spares off Gwyndath Evans' car, and totally non stock fitment, wheels unique fitting. So evo1 or even maybe gpA, that toledo is pretty old i think? Lovely stuff all the same
Yep thats the car, I have a load of photos. Had a few good parts on it but was over priced at 9k, not sure what it sold for tho.
Yeh, saw that, advert placed a couple hrs after this thread going up. There are better standard VAG hubs these days, but they are interesting from an historical perspective
Great thread, very informative, if it's possible overtime... ...for all the hubs/uprights here it would be really useful to publish the size of the bearings, the hub PCB, OD of the hub centre, CV spline sizes and any other measurable data. These would make it easier for people to try and change their hubs for a 'better' set up.
Looking at the Motorsport uprights, they appear to have the lower ball joint bang in the centre line of the hub, I would have thought they would have pushed them forwards to increase caster, like the mk3 golf 16v items? Any ideas on this?
But then the wheel moves forward with wishbone! In sprinting/rallying etc are you allowed to move the turrets?
