I have loved the RS6 ever since it came out, the flared arches just do it for me, and last night after a long, long search, I picked one up. It's a 2004 car with 75k miles, all original apart from recently fitted Bilstein PSS9s and the wheel colour. Well, after an 80 mile drive, I love it. Real effortless power, and a fantastic soundtrack. The quattro traction makes it pretty formidable. I have a couple of minor bits and pieces I'm going to do, get the ride height raised and wheels refurbed, and I will keep you posted as to how I get on. I'll get some better pics too. But now - time for another drive Now I have 2 blue estate cars
Yep, cost of DRC and gearbox issues always scared me too.. though I'd love a nice RS6 plus if I didn't have to pay the running costs. That V8 noise and power is addictive - I loved my B6 S4 with the 4.2 V8. Didn't love filling it up with petrol constantly though, was lucky if I averaged 22mpg most of the time. I can't imagine 2 turbos making that any more efficient! Have fun with it, looks really nice.
Many thanks guys. I am really loving it so far. This one has a good history, with the Bilsteins fitted, cambelt changed and gearbox oil changed in December, amongst other things. I will get some better pics up soon.
Is the engine standard or has it been remapped? Those wheels in that colour give it a bit of an RS6-plus look. The guys over on audisrs.com are very knowledgeable and friendly if you need RS-specific help - though I'm not advising you switch forum allegiance of course!
Thanks! Yeah, I can't decide whether to keep the wheels that colour, or to put them back to silver. The engine is standard which I am happy with - for now
Have a big soft spot for big engine'd Audis like yours. Wish I had the money to maintain and run one. One of our friends had a saloon version to yours with an MTM remap to ~ 600bhp. Thing was a serious monster capable of in excess of double ton velocities, where permitted! I did test it on the dyno too. Thanks for sharing and enjoy the thing...
Cheers! I'm trying to be a good boy with the tuning for the moment. Here's a better pic I took today after giving it a clean. I really love it.
Almost I was mulling over Alpina today as the RS6 has a Quattro GmbH chassis plate, rather than an Audi one. Anyway, had a great run with it today. The power is great, but the speed you can carry through corners, coupled with the stability is really impressive. Just getting cracking with the post purchase OCD bits and pieces and I'll keep you posted. Had time for a stop off today.
Just back from a 200 mile drive - I love the car. Such a great all round machine. I got the ride height of the Bilstein PSS9s raised by Audi Technik in Glasgow, who fitted them for the previous owner in December. The car looked great before, but it was a bit impractical as the wheels would rub if anyone sat in the back. I have been buying lots of bits and pieces too, like Michelin PS2s, a load cover, dog guard, RS6 mats, hard back brochure and a 2004 price list. Here's the car with the raised ride height. Think I will get the wheels re-done in their original silver colour. The car is booked into Defined Details in Glasgow in June to get the paint and the interior done, and I'll get the wheels refurbished and the Michelin PS2s fitted at that time. I've seen some of the pics of Gordon's previous work, which looks excellent, and I'm excited to see how my car turns out. And here it is beside a slower machine
Looks better `up there` I didn`t think PS2`s were still available, had them on the B10 ... superb Replacements are the Pilot Super Sports.
Stunning car I'd leave as is as it's just awesome. A grey one passed me this morning on the A303 at a million miles an hour.
Shame the photos don't seam to be working A customer had one of these when they were new, took me for a spin, oh my god the thing was quick Enjoy
Thanks Guys. I'll get some more pics up in June after it has been detailed and the wheels have been refurbished.
Here are some after shots after the detail at Defined Details in Glasgow. Truly excellent results, I can't recommend Gordon enough.
