    Quick question.

I am installing a mk3 starter as part of my 5 speed swap. The Mk3 starter doesn't have the second spade terminal on the starter solenoid (pin 15a) for the points ignition system. I know that it supplies +12v while cranking.

Am I able to simply replace the the spade on the wire with a ring terminal and connect it to the post on the solenoid that goes to the starter motor brushes? or does it need to be shielded or similar?

Toyotec posted info on how to tap into the starter 15a feed if the terminal is not present here:

an alternative is to add your own diode to the wire and tap it to the starter red/black :)

Thanks for the link. That answers my question as 'yes', just add a ring terminal and connect to the solenoid post that goes to the starter brushes. Perfect
