What size drill for a red rawlplug?

  1. I need to stick up an alarm box at the weekend and they are unmarked - looks like maybe 6mm or so? Masonry bit obviously, going into red brick and maybe mortar...

I go a size smaller as it always seems to bore a hole out for me. I like to hammer the plugs in!

  4. Nice, cheers Trev! So 3mm wood for the door bar, 6mm masonry for the alarm box, and a tommy gun under the bed for the ultimate deterrent.

  5. Get a better drill, then!

I'm looking forward to the moment when you mutter "Trev you utter c*nt" when you discover it's the wrong size whilst freezing your ball off up a ladder. :)

  7. 5.5mm is what i always use, nice n tight [:$]

  8. They're about 2 inches long, don't think anyone will be pulling them out without breaking the box!

Nope. But when i do a job i do it properly. Nothing is coming off the wall if i put it up:lol:

    Rugby ball plugs here please!

  13. Mat, it's a fuсking alarm system box - if they want it off the wall then they can hit it with a big hammer. Wise up, son, or I'll be round to see you with my big cock.;)

    Not again[:^(]

Ok, I didn't mean for somthing like an alarm box. Infact I had a new alarm put in at my unit last week. (Last one got wet!) It was a terrible install and you could just pull the keypad off the wall[:x]

And that was from just having to look at it. [:D]

What make of system did you have installed Mat?

  16. It'll make your eyes water, sonny. But you'll learn to enjoy it.

Bin the plugs and use some proper red ones with some inch half 8 screws and use some penny washers to pack out gaps if the wall bows a bit. Plugs supplied with appliances are invariably sheeeite and pull out way too easy.

Oh and 5.5 mm ftw esp with my Bosch 18v on full chat BRRRRRAAAAAARP!!!!
