Flipping iKids!!! Track Driver. Just found out only the last two issues can be read, and I've thrown all the mags away believing I could just refer to the app. Older editions will appear as paid for back copies!
The spoiler is totally required. When I tested cars at MIRA the gains in downforce for sprint cars were dependant of getting the tyres pushed down and the gap between floor and tarmac as thin as possible. The diffuser is probably overkill but a flat floor with NACA duct would be practical. I based the spoiler on a variation from the 90's. Classic F2 kit car design like the Escort Maxi Mk6 or something like the Delta/Seat Ibiza kit spoiler would work better.
would it not be similar to modify some berg arches by cutting many slits in the backs? (then using mesh for taste/stones etc)
It would be, and obviously it's been done extensively - but my thinking behind the thread was contemporary design:
kinda missed the point didnt i haha i do like the look of the at wrc polo though.. and at first when i saw it for the first time i did doubt the arches.. they have grown on me though!
a few mk1's in eschdorf had fully flat floors this year that sat lower than the sills and made out of aluminium and very low, there was none of this last year on them, or not like this anyway rear spoilers is the norm on these cars aswell and chatted about them to try and find info i'v checked memory cards and no pics of these floors which is a shame (sure i took some)
I've duplicated / lowered the sills, but lack the skillz to drop straight feature lines on them: Low: Lower:
Wish I knew how to use this 3d stuff. I have the perception, just not the software skills for it. In my mind a modern interpretation would be very radical. Kind of a cross between the Berg Cup/Pikes Peak Mk2/Mickey's IMSA car and 80's Thundersaloons. I have never seen a Golf Thundersaloon and think a combination of Golf, Berg thinking and IMSA/Thunder arches would make for something pretty special. Think the Mampe Capri, Zakspeed Escort Mk2 and apply that to a Golf - but with influences from series cars like the Rallye. Kind of this, but in an earlier shell with more racetrack thinking: VW missed a trick in my eyes.
ralf krolls berg cup car is a bit thunder saloonish with his arches http://www.motor-mania.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/Golf-Iberg2010.jpg
are you on photoshop chris? are you using the "line" tool use shift when drawing them to draw dead straight at horizontally, vertically or diagonally (sorry if im telling you things you already know)
The kit on Ralf Krolls Mk1 would lend itself very well to being modified in such a way imho. Anyone have any info on that kit btw?
