Hi guys I've just been to look at a MK4 gti golf (AUM). the car is in mint condition and has 89k miles, the problem is that I noticed it was an AUM engine but it has an AGU cyl head. when I asked the owner he told me that the car broke the timming belt and he had a s/h head fitted has it was cheaper than to have his 1 repaired. Can this be done?? will this cause any problems?? any comments will be a big help Thanks Aaron
No probs really, as everything bolts onto it from the AUM. AGU is also a large port head, and as it was a AUM to start off with, it should have the k03s turbo Quite a good setup really
As above, if you transfer the base engine AUM, intake VVT adjuster, chain, cam cover, then reuse an AGU intake manifold, you can bolt on the E-GAS throttle and plug in the ME 7.5 system to get the car to work.
thanks for the help guys, the car seems to drive ok, I take it that if the tentioners had not been swaped over the car would run like a bag of spanners??
Hi Guys , So , if I read correct AUM VVT fits like a glove into AGU head VVT chain must replace non VVT chain Is that correct ? Thanks
Yeah, the vvt tensioner will bolt in. According to ETKA the cam chains for the AGU(non vvt) and AUM(vvt) are the same so wouldn't matter.
