All members and friends of the Club. Recently, an effort was made to inject some energy and life into our official facebook group page. Basically to wake it up a tad Well, we should done that sooner as Club GTIer after Club GTier started to share details and pictures about their pride and joys! We even had quite a few joining up and and in about 3 days added over 250 people to the site. As a result of this response we will be closing the events and shows page and use the official club's group page for announcements and further events etc. Thanks to those who have supported so far and in case you have not visited or wanted to add yourself then click on Facebook/ClubGTI I am really 'liking' what I am seeing over on there! One kind request, please no ads or classifieds Regards Ed.
As somebody who has never used Facebook & knows nothing about it, or how it works, is there a possibility that the club FB may take over from the forum? This is a genuine question & not intended to negative or doom-mongering
Glad you raised that. FB will never take over or replace this forum, as it is no good for sharing detailed analysis or an easy search for archive stuff. More an introduction or a live feed of what's up!
I personally dont use facebook. Mainly because of the privacy and hacking issues fb seems to have had trouble with over the years. Im pretty sure a good number of us on here dont use fb either, so would it not be better to keep the events and shows page on here aswell, for the people who dont wish to open up a fb account?
I am fully aware some do not do Facebook. We have an events and show page on FB as well but that will be closed as suggested by the staff and everything will be on on group page. In fact most of the users on the events page are already added to the Club GTI group page. So just a matter of time. That is what I meant. Nothing on here changes though, except for the good
Lovely Infact, I might use my missus fb account to have a little snoop around, if I can get her off it! She's on there just as much as I am on here. lol
The way I see our Facebook page is as an introduction to Club GTI and the forum, you could call it bait lol There are pics of cars on there as Eddie has posted above, a few links back to the forum. It's a great way to let lots of people know about meets and events very quickly, people who are not so regular on the forum.
Feel free to have a look/snoop whatever. It is proper busy on there attracting some of the older members too!
Great to see it so active, Think of it as a marketing tool for the club. It will never replace the forum, they are two different mediums that won't overlap.
Lots of activity the past couple of days. Loads of people adding content. Always a good thing, look forward to seeing it develop. Will need as much moderation as this forum after a while though.
Us OAP's copping some flak again?! lol The page works well - adds a new er.. dynamic, or something. A good intro to the forum, as you say.
