Hello everyone! I'm restoring my 1990 golf GTi 8v MK2. 2 weeks ago we started up the engine after 13 years of hibernation and started really smoothly. The problem comes when the engine has been started for about a minute. A white smoke starts to appear from behind (manifold zone) and smells like burning oil. The thing is that once the engine is turned off, the smoke continues. I leave a video to see if you can make an idea of what I'm trying to explain! https://youtu.be/36VLCnE1wCk Hope anyone could help, Thank you very much!
Did you change the studs for the proper non shouldered ones? Other possibilities are a bad camshaft oil seal, or a distorted rocker cover?
Is it old residual oil on the manifold because until it's burnt it all off or you decrease it it will still smoke.infact even when you have decreased it it will still smoke until everything has burnt off
Hope it is just that but yesterday the engine was turned on for about ten minutes and there wss still a lot of smoke coming out. Do you think there is still oil there?
I think I have found where the problem comes from but I don't know what is due to. There are some oil spills in the manifold, do you guys know what causes? Bad gasket, the screw is not tight enough.... https://imgur.com/a/Z2Ykn
