Just thought I would share some pictures of my MK7, and some of the bits ive done to it so far, got plans for it but don't want to do too much at once, that way everytime I do something its like a new car every 6 months ;) Enjoy!

P.s. I know some of the plates arent blurred, I blurred them for something else and couldnt find the originals

Welcome and nice car. Love my mk 7 ed40. What colour blue is that looks really good?

What is the black spray you are using on the rear hubs? Is it to stop them rusting?

    Hey thanks!

It's midnight blue, great colour when polished, pearlescent effect almost (you can see in one of the pics a bit better)

The paint is Simoniz VHT black paint. The roads in England are quite damp and salty for a good portion of the year and the hubs seem to rust quick time so to try and improve the look I sanded back the rust and sprayed that On. So far so good, lasting all through quite a harsh winter on the roads, only took about an hour per wheel including masking up and layering it etc.

Yes have noticed mine rusting too. Think i will give this ago. Thanks for the useful information. That is what caught my eye the metallic flake in one of the pics.
Used to own a corrado storm in mystic blue. In certain light it would look purple with a pink fleck other times just dark blue black. Enjoy you golf gti.

It would be worth getting some brake degreaser/cleaner and give it a spray over and a wipe with after you sand down but before you spray, just to ensure no grease messes the paint.

^ That's the rust pad I used, didn't aim to get all the rust off, just the bumpy stuff and get it down to a smooth surface. And don't forget to cover your brakes! Decorating tape or masking tape works Well, not sticky, good luck!

Yeah the colour is fantastic in the light, and looks as glossy and smooth as black at night, definite head turner as most GTIs are white or grey by me. Can't wait for the summer for a clay bar polish wax etc [emoji16]
