can see it was saying 7 degrees on the cold start, was it really that cold where you are? if not then looks liek the sensor is bad
alright seems like its not too bad then. inlet temp yopu would need to monitor while driving, when sat still it'll be sucking in warm air from engien bay so will show higher than ambient temp. the inlet and ecu coolant temp sensor resistance chart can be found in my digifant troubleshooting guide here: https://clubgti.com/forums/index.ph...ose-and-tune-your-mk2-digifant-gti-8v.124949/
I opened auto data and went playing with a multimeter for a bit. FIRST 2 PICS: checking primary resistance should be 0.5 to 0.7 ohmes, I barely got 0.1 PICS 3 AND 4: checking air temperature resistence. Temperature outside is about 10 degrees now and I got 8600ohmes, and in autodata it says it should be max 7000 ohmes when 0 degrees. PIC 5: how do I remove coolant temp sensor? Also, I was checking injectors plug, in autodata it says it should be 15-20ohmes, I get from 15-20 in all plugs, but only for a second and then resistance is gone, I mean its not consistent.
18 degrees water, 2500 ohmes Tested in 85 degrees water 230 ohmes, havent tested in cold water yet EDIT: tested in 5 degrees water, got up to 5300 and was slowly goin up still
you test air temp same way as coolant sensor, on the pins of the actual sensor in the airbox not the 2 pin plug which comes off the ecu loom coil looks suspect but then again if the car actually runs fine when started it cant be all that bad, usually they either stop working altogether or break down hot. if the coil casing has cracks in it moisture can seep in making cold starts poor
ok ill go check these out now, my car also starts to missfire when cold, stutters, sometimes it missfires so much that if I release or give more gas it will shut down, I have to keep accelerator in same place for it now to shut down, but works its way out
Coil may be a suspect then, spark plugs, leads, cap and arm also worth a look if they're old or poor quality. Try to use Bosch or beru make if you can. While it's misfiring check the engine rpm measuring block also see if it's showing erratic at the same time though it can be hard to tell if it's misfiring because signal is erratic or if the rpm is erratic due to the misfire Definitely get the wiring off the engine and repaired though
Spark plugs have been changed, leads, cap and arm too, all that is left is visual inspwction on coil cover and wiring then
Little bit of gap on the edge and a bit of wet on 2nd coil cap View attachment 19093 A little gap on the edge and 2nd coil cap is a bit wet, any chance of taking it out withouth removing intake manifold?
if thats fuel leaking out then need to pop it out yep, upper inlet has to be split off before i can be removed
