Photo`s: Martin Baurle and he built this engine...

Back in the day before the Oettinger and 16V the 1600 8V engines who ran with 41 - 35 mm valves and later with guides set more outward then they could go a pinch bigger
While the Fiat had 42 - 36 mm valves...so he opted for this solution to run a number years at a competitive level....and now many years later its time to prove a point again.....

Incredible - If I've one regret in life, it's not choosing the same career path that this person has.

I've no idea how, but I want it!
I grew up with those Lampredi masterpieces.

Aye, old news the mini head.
The zetec is same bore centres as the B series apparently, a lot of work, don't think any of the oil galleries coincided originally to any degree, so they got remachined, presumably why its not so common, if repeated at all.
Zetec and cvh are also interchangeable, rs turbo head on a 2.0 bottom end being quite popular.

Not 100% on this one, but thought the 2.0 petrol mk1 galaxy used the same engine as the rs2000 90s escort, but with an 8v head, wondered if anyone ever did a swap.

Those lampredi twin cams were a great strong engine, had them in 1600cc and 2000cc versions in 131 supermirafiori's back in the day.

What sort of power did the 2.0 ltr Fiat Twin Cam 8v make back in the day? Interesting mod, I guess the bores and the stud centers must be close.

Iirc the 2.0 8v was something like 120, the 1600 8v was 105 both with twin choke webber carbs, then you had the strata abarth 2.0 16v which was something around 150bhp

Strada Abarth were 8v, 105 and 130 bhp unless in rare rally guise.

The 131 Abarth 16v were around 140 bhp. Super rare car, only 400 built.

What a bizarre thing!...interesting and different though.

What sort of power is it making Hugo?

If a 2ltr fiat only made 120hp then it must have been pretty restricted despite the valve sizes.

    Do you think so, Jason?
70s engine, 8v, simple Dizzy, no magic. 130 bhp in a road car, when the pinto was 100?

And easy to release a lot more ponies out of.

They were far better than most other road cars power outputs you had had in the 70's / 80's as Tristan says they were twin choke webber carbs and dizzy,Vauxhall managed 130 bhp out of a 2L 8v, with fuel injection in 1988 for example or a mk4 escort rs turbo 132bhp in the mid to late 80's.

I reckon this Fiat head atleast as good as a VW 8V head with 42/ 35 - 36 mm valves..... as 1600 the norm was 41 /35 mm for a big valve head
So it wont be short of power potential as it had 42 /36 mm valves ....and its crossflow and allow better porting
But nowadays a VW 1600 8V can make ca 200 - 210 hp.... not bad numbers....
