So I don't think I have seen much about this engine mentioned on here - but its quite an interesting lump.

W12 which is essentially two VR6's put together - 15 degrees between the VR banks, and then 72 degrees between each VR

5998cc TT - two KKK turbos running low boost (typically about 0.7 bar) - 600hp ish / 550ft lb

84mm bore x 90.2mm stroke (not dissimilar to kit car 4 pot motors.....)

    Forged steel crank

4 valve per cylinder (R32 heads?) with timing chains not belts

So....wonder what rods and pistons could be used for......

The heads are close relatives of the later EOBD 24v motors. The cam covers are different.

The small group of us did see the engines and blocks at various stages of the Salzgitter factory tour >>Post 167<<.

Thanks for sharing more details on this though as lots of exact details are unknown about W8, W12 and W16 engines.

The Bentley engines are only made in Crewe, UK, although they share the same block with the other VW/Audi W12's which you probably saw in Germany???

You are right Bentley engines are assembled, by hand at Crewe.

We would have seen A8 and Phaeton engines and blocks at Salzgitter.

Later the better generally - ME17 ECU on later models. Circa 5 years ago development on Flex-fuel was done. I think although hardware is compliant, this was dropped from brochures due to -7'C cold start compliance (an issue with E85 blend). But what was 560PS to 630PS was a calibration change (as per most OEMs now).

Rarely had failures to be honest- even with 630PS/850Nm and a DHT (high speed durability, 100h continuous at peak power/speed) which is 20,000miles.

Used to get through some fuel for sure!

Very little left in the stock turbo above 630PS (Supersports), if youre coming to Curby, Ill fill you in then- reluctant to say much more on a public forum.

Yeh thats right, I have never put any info up on this forum. Pot calling kettle black thats what that is.

Mines a speed edition so isnt quite up to the SS spec but not far off as it has a lot of the SS suspension and brake bits. 600hp engine. Goes like a train :) grunty old thing it is.

Hope to make it to Curby so will chat then.
