As mentioned elsewhere we have a pair of Mk3 recaro heated seats to go into the Golf. We also have a genuine Mk2 heated seat switch incoming (very expensive, it had better work). My question is, is this the loom we are looking for? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Original...p2349624.m46890.l6249&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0 Is there a better (cheaper option)?
Apart from making the loom up yourself, if you have right plugs to go in switch and relay bit, like I did for my window and seat looms, but it's not quite as common to find them as the mk4 based stuff I used, and I used polo 6n plugs for window switches as it didn't have the £100 mk2 price tag. Could use a mk3 plug for the switch I believe, again if can find one sensibly priced, the kufatec one isn't too bad by comparison, it's the postage that bumps it up 25%
that will work yep as long as the mk3 seats have the relays attached to the bottom, and that is cheap you'll need to flip 2 wires over on switch plug if using a mk2 switch on mk3 loom. maybe email them see if they do a mk3 type loom for use with mk2 switch
Thanks Jonny, yes the relays and short loom are on the seats. I'll message the Kufatec people Dave may have something for me though, fingers crossed
Kufatec loom has arrived from Germany. @rubjonny which wires new swapping over for the MK2 switch please?
Will do, thank you. I’m a bit surprised there is only one ignition live feeding two relays. Should there be another live with a bit more oomph?
Ralph has been very busy fitting his heated seat loom. He reports (I'm away) that the drivers side works well but not the pax. The pax relay is getting hot so probably no good. So, what's the alternative relay? It appears to be a 59 but I'm not sure they are available new. (Why do VW relays all seem to have a different number, I thought a relay was a relay?). Alternatively does anyone have a spare knocking about? Also, could it be another fault causing the relay to get hot and not function properly?
Switch the relays over first to confirm that's the issue, iirc there's 2 you can use I'll dig into the part numbers later
