Car has been running great and but has recently started to roll a bit @ idle,thought air leaks and fixed a couple of possibles but to no result,then heard a hissing noise around the WUR and sure enough the rubber cap on the vacuum port is leaking and split,is that caused by a faulty valve or or just the split cap...please tell me the latter . Edit...its not a rubber cap but a plastic one which appears to be a vent ?? the outer casing is cracked so do I repair that which in the scheme of things would mean that it vents less ??,help please ,cheers
yes the cap is a vent not a seal, inside there is a flat gasket which seals off the rear of the WUR where the vacuum port is on the side from the rest of the wur casing. and yeah, if the casing is cracked into that sealed area you'll also get an air leak
Mine appears to not have flat gasket just a boss the end of the cap comes up against to metal pipe,currently repairing the cap anyway,but TBO think my idle air screw is leaking @ the oring ,anyone know the size ?,cheers.
i mean you have to split the WUR open to get to the gasket I mention oring not sure i just bought a box of em and picked closest size
Haven't opened it ,fussing over less important things as you do . Can't seem to find an exploded view to indicate the part RJ mentioned. Cheers .
once you undo the screws it should split into 3 parts, you have an o-ring on main case and a gasket on the back section. top right here:
could be the crack in the case or the gasket, hard to know without splitting fully and inspecting. you can get the wur rebuild kits on ebay just make sure its correct type to suit yours
Changed out the air idle screw and gave the engine a quick tune recently ,no more leaks with the screw changed. Didn't remove and dismantle the WUR because was worried about not having any spares,did a test while the engine was running and the air leak is small and by putting my finger over the port there was only a slight reduction in idle. Buggered if I know why but now the port stops venting a short time after the engine has a bit of temp up (not much) , don't think there is an issue now after my tinkering ,runs smooth as @ idle also. sounds like the small air leak in the wur is closing up when it expands from the heat of the engine, perhaps its that crack you found. as its not affecting things massively I'd say you're all good
