At long last we have the final prototype of our new MK1 Golf front mount. Designed to offer additional support as our already very successful rear gearbox mount does, this is another useful addition for the MK1 Golf owner. I fitted this and another identical mount in 5 min's today (5 mins each not both the same time Tim!)...std mount out, JMR mount in...it fitted perfectly...as should be expected... Seen in the pics in it's raw state, the first batch should be ready in 3-4 weeks once made and powder coated....form an orderly que folks!...
Looking good. The rear mount looks very nice sat in my barn, along with the head you did for me. I really must get round to fitting that, and get my tame ally welder to make up the manifold for the ITBs.
Will do.... keep an eye out here or the JMR website for availability announcement...should be approx 3-4 weeks by the time they go through the process and land with me.
The plan is to retail at less than 100...that's retail not CGTI members rates mind......plus deal's on front & rear mounts when sold as a pair.
Saw your mention in PVW magazine I heard of a nice 8v engine coming from your workshop, soon to be competing. Can't wait to hear it!
Yr on the list Kelvin...but only if you finish the truck!...lol We can have a chat about that murph Prototype rad is ok, but I want it better for retail. Cheers Sam...was a total surprise to me...PVW did that themselves. Well a couple of 8v's really...3x 1800's, 2x 2ltr crossflows, a 1300, 1400 & 1500!...3x 2ltr 16v's and a couple of G60's to keep em company...I better get some more pro plus tablets!
Can we have an updated on the front mounts please? im about to drop a new engine across and it would be super helpful if i had the new mount here ready to bolt up!
You can indeed... As of yesterday, the batch of folded components were back with my fabricator awaiting jig assembly & welding, then off to the powder coaters and back to him for the bush install...then up to me...reckon on 7-10 days. I've got lots waiting so I'll be giving chase in a week to see how progress is going.
It is indeed Mike yes. I swapped a std mount for ours in a few mins...the time it took to turn the ratchet...one out one in...bolts straight in where the original comes from, which is exactly as I wanted it.
Looks nicely made, just can't help but think its a missed a opertunity to design something new rather than copying an existing design.. (no offence intended)
I was thinking if the mounting plate was a bit smaller then it might help with modding the X-member to lower the radiator (although the bolt spacing stays the same to make it fit). Obviously there's a price to pay for that, in terms of spreading the load over a smaller area.
Whilst you may think that mickey it's not a copy per say...if it was it would look the same...your partly right, but there arnt many options in joining point A to point B. I did consider a tubular type mount, and even turning the bush around, but I doubt Henry Ford had a call from Karl Benz saying "oi...that's my idea"! Thanks for the positive bit tho...it is indeed well made...I wouldn't have it any other way...and a big part of the criteria was in making it simple to make & fit as well as doing the job as intended...so hats off to the original concept on that score....I expect o'l Henry said the same.
I'll measure it tomorrow Mike...I see what you mean...it maybe a bit narrower actually so may help...I'll let you know.
