Whats the easiest and quickest way to remove a 16v engine from a mk2 golf.

When ever removing the engine the hardest bit is always the zaust manifold but we never know which is the best way to remove the engine complete as one unit.

    take the front off,

    undo the ancillaries

jack up the car and put a trolley under the engine, undo the front crossmember, under the engine at its rear mounts, then roll it out.

I did it with mine a few times, took me 20mins by myself, and it didn't scratch any of the paint work

silly answer" fork lift track and chains.

    sensible .

bonnet off disconect everything hook up some chains and straight out the top you will need to let the gearbox tilt down quite a bit [:D]

  5. go with veedubbers plan. Front panel off and wheel it out. Hell you can even undo the struts and unbolt the subframe and wheel the whole thing (engine, box, steering, hubs etc.) out if you feel really ambitious.

  6. Deffo take the front off. You can get to everything much easier.
