So it looks like they just shut the forum down and now everything has gone shame as it had some really useful threads on there. I don't think there was any prior warning either so some content of mine was lost, but hey ho. more reason to use CGTI
Yep - no advance warning, just closed. It has been quiet but that's with all forums. Shame to see it go.
It's a sad day but a sign of the times unfortunately. Personally for info you can't beat a forum, Facebook moves to fast and their search function is crap. I hope CGTI lives on for many years to come
facebook is just repeat questions, i've left loads of groups because the same thing comes up over and over again
Whats the best....? Do I fit a BAM with an AGU head? I got a BAM manifold for a an AGU engine why does it not fit? Do I have to forge? Need cheap rods for 400 bhp goal My car smashes 600bhp with low EGTs!!!!! I have achieved 450 bhp < Ed- with a paid tuner and engine builder> but want to go for 600 bhp. What the best way? ( Still is paying the tuner but asks strangers of FB) Picture for attention (PFA) of their nan taking a piss. And the FB farce goes on and on. FB has it's uses and like here, several of us volunteer to keep that branch active and relevant. It is important that we do. But nothing replaces this platform.
I get the impression that people start to come back from social media.. and they value a good forum, where answers are often slower... BUT the advice/ answers given are often far more detailed.... and explained how and why.... All to often people take things for granted and expect that things keep going forever... Its only possible due people who spend time and effort ... and create content, answer questions, discus things, welcome new members, help at events.... Everyone can do something... its a community effort to make things work... Or why not volunteer.... If you appreciate our club, forum, events... then become a Paid Member ....this to cover expenses for server, software licences, insurance and many other things....
Forums are unfortunately a dying thing, I don't do social media these days, the perks are never worth all the drawbacks in my eyes. So I'd hate to see it go that way.
