fire!

    bad bad times, iv heard this is a common problem, iv changed mine once already and a year on theyre just as bad, ill have to re-replace them. was this your car?

    I had a mk2 that ignited its self about 6 years ago but managed to put it out before it did too much damage, that was bad enough. I am gutted for you dude.

    hey guys yes this was my pride and joy adolf golf the atlas grey one in my signature pik below. fire brigade said most likely old fuel pipes / old wiring. and ive never heard of this before injectors getting stuck shut and goin through pressure cycles then blowing up like a small hand grenade?????!!!???

    yes mate, cabin filled up with smoke quite quick really smelly smoke got out and there was smoke oozing out of every gap in the bodywork looked through the grill and there was flames everwhere!

    not good, it looked really nice before. yet i bet theres loadsa old reckers out there still driving around no probs! i hope you dont lose motivation to do it all again and learn from it and make it better and stronger.

    tbh french cars suffer more from the electrical problems, vag stuff is mainly alright, plus that would start inside the car. the injectors story sounds a bit airy fairy! never heard of anything like that. the fuel lines are known as a problem after all these years, they crack internally untill it reaches the ends and then leaks and there you have it.

    Bad times mate. I caught a fuel leak on my car...after I'd driven for about 200 miles!!

    It does kinda look like the flames are trying to make a 'W' though!!

    Wow sorry to hear about this joe, I used to see you flying around town in it looked nice, I live in Penzance too got the helious blue mk2 lowered etc, think you know my lad ian from Kfc?

    yeah yeah i know ian and his bonkers girlfriend who used to regularly try to steal my wagen lol!

    watch out for your fuel pipes!!!!!!
    my insurance company are useless ive found a couple of similar cars same colour etc but it just makes you weeeep i looked through my history i spent something like 6 and a half k on that car and just when i was happy with it ....... wooof

    I kind of thought the same about the flames (no malice intended) but does look so much like a vw sign
    a scary thought though from the fire brigade,but they do know there stuff i suppose,new one on me though

    yeah that's him and rose like you said bonkers! He was always coming home saying he wanted an atlas grey golf,

    Must be heart breaking mate, I get so upset when I get bird poop on mine!
    If there's anything I can do just shout
    take care, oh and I've ordered new fuel lines, mot tomorrow eek

    nasty :(
    common issue on g60s as well, fuel rail above exhaust manifold = potential fire! all digi/g60 owners should check the lines to the fuel rail regular.
