Golf Gti Mk 2 with 240,000 on the clock! Looking for recon engine to keep this car on the road.

Looking for a recon engine for this Mk 2 Golf Gti to keep it on the road. Has 240,000 miles on the clock most by me!

 

Well done on the mileage. We are going to need more engine info than that to help you.... Year of car, Engine code, 8v or 16v...
Good luck in getting it sorted. Personally I would take it to an Engine services place and let them refurbish it

 

I agree with getting yours refurbished you know you have a good engine when its rebuilt.

 

It probably just needs a hone, a set of rings and valves reseated, with new stem seals.
A new water pump, oil pump, oil cooler and belts, hoses etc, and it'd do another couple of hundred thousand miles I'd bet.
