My sister's Polo has an intermittent fault code - it sometimes comes and goes, but has been reset by the garage and come back again

16726 - Camshaft Position Sensor (G40): Signal too Low

The car isn't the best starter - although she says the garage have tested the battery and alternator - it's a 2006 model that's never had a new battery in 60,000+ miles so I'm still leaning towards that.
Similarly, she reports no obvious running problems, but can occasionally 'lurch' when accelerating on the motorway I don't know if these are related in any way.

Could it just be a case of getting a new sensor? Or something more suspicious causing this...?

Info I have relating to Fabias with same engine suggests that there should be approx. 4.5V between pins 1 and 3 of the loom connector to this sensor with ignition on.

If that seems to be present and correct, I think I'd try another sensor.

Worth checking voltage across battery without and with engine running while you're at it I guess.
