Is it old tsr, or think there has been 2 incarnations since. Possibly retro resus as think guy used to work at tsr?

Iirc they were a 1.8 block with a 2.0 crank.

  6. I think it’s a few years old

  7. Oh right i didn’t know that thought it would be a 1.8 bored out,so how does that make a 1.9?

    81mm bore, as a 1.8 has, with the 92.8mm stroke that a 2.0 crank gives (86.4 on a 1.8) , equals 1915cc.

You'd have to bore a 1.8 to borderline unreliable levels, some thing like 83 or 83.5mm to get anywhere close to 1.9. Which requires special machining equipment, and custom (expensive) pistons.

Whereas with some clearancing in the block, standard pistons, rods and crank, albeit a mix and match of 1.8 and 2.0 parts, would give a "1900".
However, I'd much prefer a standard 2.0 bottom end lol.

  9. Thanks for that info, yes I’d probably prefer a 2.0 bottom end,it was the head i really wanted as it’s ported, bigger valves and a cam,but the bottom end is supposed to have forged pistons uprated bearings and arp bolts

I bought a tsr 1.8 a few years ago, and put the head onto a 2.0 bottom end, myself, for my own mk2.

  11. That’s sounds a good idea which head and cam did you have?

    Same as yours.

  13. I bet it went well do you still have it? Did the driving characteristics change much with the tsr head and cam?

Tbh, no, didn't change an awful lot. It's a wee bit torquey-er, and pulls better at the top end, but if I was doing it all over again I'd just go 16v.

Yes I still have it, i dailied it for a couple of years, and went to the Ring twice, Spa, and a local trackday.

  15. I do like the 8v especially with a 2ltr bottom end but i do wonder about a 2ltr 16v (abf block and kr head)
