And yes - the 11th digit of the VIN works for ALL VWAG marques - even Lambos (since Audi took them over), Bentleys, and even the mighty Veyron!


And another interesting VIN secret is the 10th digit - this indicates the MODEL YEAR for the actual car. So for example, many Mk5 GTI grey imports were sat on a salty dock for upto three years - so whilst the registration plate may show say 08, the car could actually have been built in 2004 to a 2005 model year spec.

And I wondered why some of the immigrants at work love my car, it gave them a job 20 years ago

 

any chance since i have same plant you can tell me where on the shock tunell front drivers side ill find the chassis no stamped.

mk2 for 15 years and recently authorities here in ireland require chassis no in addition to the vin plate at drivers door.
