Hi I've been trying to repair my dads car it won't come out of limp mode and takes a couple of attempt to start it's coming up with camshaft sensor fault I've tried 2 new ones in it and checked the wiring I've replaced the timing chain because I know that could cause it but it's still in limp mode does anyone know what I'm missing with this I'm running out of ideas
Stretched or jumped timing chain? Might cause the cam and crank sensors to be out if sync. Or sensor wiring.
Hi I've replaced the timing chain and checked the wiring and replaced the sensors and it's still in limp mode
when you say checked the wiring have to done full continuity test back to the ecu? are you 100% sure the timing marks are lined up perfectly
Yes I checked it back to the ecu all the locking tools line up as they should so the chain is lined up
I wonder are the gears keyed on or interference fit, and could they have slipped.. I'd be checking tdc through a plug hole.
There not keyed but the timing is right I think I might just weigh it in I can't think anything else it could be it's like it don't want to be repaired
Common for wires to break in loom. Check loom near gearbox where it comes from engine and goes to body. You will have to remove loom tape to see damage. Usually where loom is held in place via brackets, rubs through wire as they are very thin. You don't have correlation errors so timing seems fine.
