The start restoration on my mk2 golf gti

    2015 the year i brought the golf gti and picked it up from Southampton and drove back to Peterborough :)[​IMG][/URL][/IMG][/IMG] Its been a long wait to get the car and money together to make a start on my 1988 mk2 golf gti looks like a lot of rust to be cut out and welding to be done to her i`m happy to put her back on the road for another 10 years or more as i love my mk2 gti. i`m no mechanic or welder sprayer but the engine all done by me and my mate paul welder and steve the sprayer will get the job done and once again she be back on the road this summer and take her to some shows [​IMG][/URL][/IMG][​IMG][/URL][/IMG][​IMG][/URL][/IMG][​IMG][/URL][/IMG][​IMG][/URL][/IMG][​IMG][/URL][/IMG][​IMG][/URL][/IMG][​IMG][/URL][/IMG][​IMG][/URL][/IMG][​IMG][/URL][/IMG][​IMG][/URL][/IMG]As you can see we have made a good start on her ill post more photo`s soon on the progress :thumbup:

    Fair bit of work there, but cutting it out is the best way forward :thumbup:

    Today had some time to put on the bottom bracket on for the power steering pump and the front water housing. what i need now is the rear engine bracket mount as mine had cracked where the bolts go though :( if anyone has one spare at a good price pm me please [​IMG][/URL][/IMG][​IMG][/URL][/IMG][​IMG][/URL][/IMG]

    Hi guys how many SPEED NUT, MK2 GOLF WING FITTING do i need Part Code: N0120622 this is from vw heritage is it 2 each side?
    also can i use sump Gasket, Oil Sump Baffle Plate part code: 037115220B

    Think it's one per side, down the bottom at the rear of the arch.

    i dont about you guys but the welding cost a lot but he done a good job hope it all stays together lol

    The welding has been done well, very neat just how it should be

    I wouldn't expect it to be cheap as it takes time and skill to do it right

    Keep us updated with the build progress

    thanks beetie hows yours getting on m8 is it all complete now m8.
    today taken of the front subframe and rear axle im on it all weekend to strip of most under neath of and do a bit more welding and prep work just need to no whats best to put back on it
