I'm going to fit an 02J into my mk2, rather than faff around with a hydraulic pedal box, fluid lines, cylinders etc, what if any are the disadvantages of using the SEAT (?) cable clutch actuator?
I've been using it for years, and never had any problems with it. I have a paddle clutch with lightweight flywheel, and it's fine even in traffic.

The picture is under the one I shared in this post. It is simple solution that took some thought and determination.
I run the cable setup with a paddle clutch. No issues here either. I have the fixed end at the front of the car ad the moving cable coming from the bulkhead although the standard setup is the reverse.
Yup Sam. Bloody expensive for what it is, about 80 Eur. But saves messing about with my steering column, fluid lines etc.
keep em peeled on ebay.de, best palce to pick them up cheap. you can buy them new from SEAT dealers currently as well, 90+VAT so bear that price in mind when lookign at scraggy old 2nd hand units. Unfortunately it doesn't come with the protective boot though but you can buy them, try classic-vw.co.uk I think he might be ordering some in. I found them on a euro site but the shipping price was ridiculous (hence why I had 10 for sale a while back)
