    Hi,

My son put his August 1997 Mk3 Golf Gti in to the garage to have a oil seal, clutch and front wheel bearing replaced. They have hit a snag with the wheel bearing. The one they have taken out apparently is 70mm diam, the replacement is 72mm. From what we can determine, 72mm should be the correct one for this model.

The previous owner has confirmed that he had bought it with low miles from the original owner, it was only ever dealer serviced before he bought it. The only suspension changes have been shocks and springs. The hubs appear original and genuine. Not had the chance to confirm the other side is the same.

Any sensible suggestions as to what has happened, and where the 70mm bearings have come from and more importantly, where can we get replacement ones?

    Thanks in anticipation,Tim
