Hi. Just received my pedal box for the 79 Scirocco and I can’t quite get it to fit. There is a triangular bracket that is in the way but I am worried removing this would compromise the strength of that area. Also the two holes on top of the pedal box that are designed to attach to the scuttle are nowhere near. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I can’t work it out and don’t want to cut something and regret it! I was expecting to just be a straight swap from what I have read. Pics below:

I had the same issue when I bought a mk1 Golf pedal box from "Vagabonds Tunning" [sic] off ebay - not realising that Golf/Scirocco bulkheads are different. Either way that bracket has to go.

The two holes at the top may be optional as I'm sure they use the same box section for Golf and Scirocco.

I'd ring Kim and check anyway - also to make sure you haven't been sent one for a Golf.

I have spoken to Kim and he has assured me it’s for a Scirocco. Was it definitely the same bracket you removed from the scuttle to the column?

Did you get any flex with the bracket removed? Did you bolt the box to the scuttle as well as the bulkhead?

I never got to use it in anger so to speak but it seemed fine with the two bulkhead bolts and the two bolts to the upper bracket.
Because it was a mk1 Golf item the holes nearest the scuttle were miles off.

Did you replace it with something else?

Just update this. Had the dash out and made a bracket to bolt up to the scuttle from the holes on top of the box. (Original column bracket did need removing) More work than I was expecting but got a result in the end: CF43E9EA-9E7E-4657-93AC-3CCD901F073B.jpeg

Good work:thumbup:. What cylinders are you going to use? 0.625 and 0.7?

They are Wilwood remote reservoir, front and rear 0.625. Bias is wound right to the back so maybe a 0.7 would have been better for the rear. I am getting 2.5:1 braking on the rollers.
