Hi,in the middle of a major restoration, the current engine is the original 1.8 which was originally a carburettor set up ,but somewhere along the way some one as put a mk2 injection head on it,it was running badly even though its had a lot of money spent on it more recently, iv just put new injectors in and now it's over fuelling my mechanic now seems to think the fuel metering head is not working correctly if that is the case Iv been told there almost impossible to get hold if any one has one please let me know, but my main question is what is the easiest and most available engine swoop any information would be really appreciated, thanks

you say 1.8 carb, so a cabrio?

start here anyway, follow all the basic kjet testing procedures:
    https://clubgti.com/forums/index.ph...air-and-tune-your-mk2-corrado-1-8-16v.195423/

for static timing you can use this thread for the markers on cam and crank:
    https://clubgti.com/forums/index.ph...ose-and-tune-your-mk2-digifant-gti-8v.124949/

ignition timing is done at idle with vacuum line to distributor disconnected and plugged, but only if its a proper kjet GTI distributor. to be sure post part number up in here then we can check :)
