The latest project.1.8 driver auto very solid with just 86k on the clock.not much history but believe it is right Visa records go back to 2012 when it was at 56k. Another good indicator is interior isnt wrecked with no bolster wear.has a twin choke webber on.and I'm off soon to pick up a gti camshaft.then gti exhaust from Manifold. Should be a bit quicker then but tbh it's not exactly slow now.
Had jetta front end changed it back to a golf Looks better I think.refurbed my bbs wernt Damaged but were more grey than silver So done em metallic silver and 2k lacquer. A few jobs still to do but they are getting Fewer.
Couple more pics car is kind of finished but are they ever finished.some minor jobs but well happy with it.wernt sure about it being an auto but liking it must my age
New interior well youd think so thanks to my vax....got these seats from dubstock very nice. So much better than the boring dot seats.
Thanks.was never a fan of the dotted interior. This check pattern I think is one of nicest patterns in a mk2.i would have had a set of green ultraviolet seats but in all honesty I was never gonna find a set been looking for ages so settled for these.at least there mint And that's more important.and it's kind of right for the car also being a driver.no sagging no bolster wear either amazing for 30 years old.this pic is drivers bolster looks like factory.happy days
Very nice I had my eye on an identical car for sale 3 years or so ago entirely stock. Not sure if its the same one. The most distinctive thing about that one in that listing was Kienzle head unit and Clarion speakers front and rear.
Finite long time seeing you post. Hows the mk2 gti I know you had issues with With something (head or something)did you get to the bottom of it. This car was an ebay impulse buy dont really know why I bought it tbh.just a bit bored at the time I think.my missus wasnt to impressed when I turned up home in it. Had a strait to cherry bomb when I drove it from Dudley to kettering took a week for ears to return to normal.lol But sorted most of the bad stuff now had some unsavory mods that I've got rid of. Doubt it was the same one this certainly wasnt stock.think on the whole been pretty looked after most of its life.just been let go a bit in the last few years.think it's a car that's spent a lot of years around Nottingham area.
Soon be mot time.has been a worthwhile Project during lockdown.think I will keep this one being low owners only 4 (not bad really)and showing just 86k on the miles. I beleive this to be fairly accurate I've no history lost by a previous owner.but vosas Records show it back to 56k in 2010. Very strait car and still has factory paint in the arches etc.had been abused a bit by someone with some additions that wernt for me.but a car worth restoring and I'm pleased with the end results.work done Minor welding(arch edges)gearbox service.engine service, new interior, Changed front end back to a golf from a jetta, bbs ra,s,full respray.35mm springs, Boge shocks.weber conversion.gti exhaust.may change cam to gti if I can sort one and also the manifold and downpipe not sure if these two mods will change it much?almost ready to hit the road in spring.
No unfortunately I never did get it sorted. I tried a few things, but hands a bit tied for seriously getting into it. In fact sadly I must sell it now as I don't even have space for it outside and it's not exactly water resistant either. The A3 also seems to be going down hill fast. Done the springs and oil is leaking from the turbo. On the upside I found one of the adverts for that other 91' Monty Auto still live. Definitely one that got away. http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C935343 It seems like it was immediately taken off the road and has never been MOT'd since. It would of been cool to see them parked side by side at Earls Barton CC show.
