upload_2024-4-2_10-43-8.gif upload_2024-4-2_10-43-8.gif upload_2024-4-2_10-43-8.gif Im well behind on the updates on this thing. Been chipping away at it since the last update.

it now runs again, clutch is bled with a new slave cylinder, brakes been rebuilt and painted and bled, all the lights are working, horn working, gauges etc all working, its really not far away now from being complete.

    left to do:

    - fit carpet sections to floorpans either side of tunnel, and also boot floor, have made up templates for these just need to cut the carpet!

    - source and fit windscreen, struggling to find a second hand screen thats fairly local, looking like i’ll need to fork out for a new one, nae ideal!

    - restore the dashboard and refit it, plumb up the heater blower pipes and vents etc

    - fit boost gauge, map switch, brake bias adjuster etc, this will happen once dash is back in.

    - rebuild steering rack, and come up with a tie rod solution, currently binding on full lock

    - ball joint extensions

    - number plates

    - wheel speed sensor

    - seal up the sunroof delete

    - refit seats and harnesses

    - wheel refurb and new tires

    - MOT ready for summer etc

I have booked this car into a local show on 5th May, this leaves me roughly 4 weeks to pull my finger out and get it finished and on the road!

You and me both, it definitely needs a quick rack, but that can come in 'phase 2'

I've been going pretty flat out on this car recently, even waking up early to work on it before the 9-5 slog , its all been worth it though as it now has a 12 month ticket!

Well its fully road legal now, taxed, MOT and insured!

Took it out for a spin last night, its loud as f*ck, vibrates like hell, the tires rub on the arches, the gearbox is weeping oil slightly and the indicator relay is constantly buzzing - other than that though its ace

was a fair bit smokey after a good run, turns out to be just the heat wrap on the downpipe baking in, nae oil leaks or coolant leaks yet!

it’s definitely rough and ready, the pedalbox will take a bit of getting used to as the pedals are very close together, and you’ve to really press the brake pedal for the anchors to kick in, to be expected with no servo though

The steering could be better, Porsche 924 rack is 4.1 turns lock to lock i think it is, its actually just a LHD mk1 golf rack and pinion, which Quaife happen to make a quick rack for!

It also needs aligned properly, i’ve just done that by eye for now!

Made it to Crathes and back yesterday for its first show! Around 40 miles all in, only issue was a weeping gearbox, which after some quite high rev cruising along the motorway on the way back has turned into quite a decent leak!

Going to remove the gearbox this week, reseal it wherever I can and try some expensive fancy oil in it (Redline MT90 I think), as it was whining and making a few strange noises. It actually sounds like a straight cut box haha

Car had quite a lot of interest at Crathes and had a lot of people confused by what it was in the first place and what the hell was going on underneath it with the running gear - good day out [IMG]
