The wires had gone hard and were very brittle on most of the ones I have done in the past, which makes them a right pain in the ass to solder or repair, but it can be done.
I've bought new hall senders before and they've only cost around 25.
The seal is a funny size, and you'll find that no-one actually stocks that particulat one, but you can find them with an i/d of 12mm, instead of 12.5mm(original size) which is no problem as the smaller bore will take up any wear that has been made on the shaft.

I got mine soldered up fine, just need to know now where to pop them into.

Have a place looking into ordering me a seal, I rang G&S and they dont do them or a kit.

You won't get a seal from the usual places like GSF or Euro nor do VAG stock them, you'll have to go to a specialist. If you can't get one then pm me. ;)

Ive my seal in fine so now im stuck with the wiring problem -
If anyone has a chance would they mind popping off their Distributor cap and just looking at the wires on on the connector of the Hall sender for me - I just need to see what color wire goes in the middle connector -red or brown?

I think I'll just order a new hall sender as looking at the wires they do seem brittle. Probely if I do leave it they will go again and give me bother and for a few pound I may as well do it right.

    Thanks Fozzie.

I rebuilt mine about a month ago, but it still leaks a tiny bit.

The seal i took out had helical grooves like a screw thread inside the bit that contacts the shaft.

I assume that this is to help keep the oil in, as any that creeps past the seal is forced back down the shaft by the helical grooves in the seal.

The new seal came from orinoco seals in leeds and didn't have any such grooves and was just a standard type seal.

Does anybody know where i can get the fibre washers and the proper seal?

Sounds like your dizzy shaft is a bit worn, even a standard seal should have no problems sealing on an unworn shaft. Might be best to get the smaller seal mentioned earlier (12mm) to make sure you don't get any leaks.
