Wise words indeed,maximum warpage for a head is about .004 of inch and to put that into perspective a hair on your head is about .010" -.015" (if you have hair). My philosophy is if car has blown a head gasket it will most certainally need checked and probably skimmed. Chances are you will have a weak part between mating faces most likely between No.2 & 3 and all you will have done is tightened it back on and over time it will go. Well at least if it does you will know how to do it this time a bit quicker.
I plan to change my head gasket soon because there's a small leak from gasket, cam seal and oil pressure switch on my Golf mk3 ABD engine. I have head gasket set, new bolts, new timing belt, pressure swtich, fresh oil and coolant etc, is there anything else I need? Do you reckon I can get it all done in one day (<8hours)with two people?
