i was lazy, i just un-capped the one that goes from the throttle body to the 'airbox' (remember, the one you bunged with a screw i think lol) and just did it that way. i avoided dunking the pipe in the water, i let it sip it. did it on some industrial estate at night.
Just read all seven pages of this thread and I'm very intrigued as to if this will work. I have an engine idle issue at the moment anyway, average idle speed is 1700rpm, adjusting the idle screw only stops it temporarily :-( I'll let you know how i get on, hopefully disconnecting the reb/black wire from the coil when adjusting it will help
aye, that's the way I was doing it. The screw was removed, I ordered a cap from K&N, paid a fiver expecting this great bit of kit to arrive. A silly tiny rubber cap turned up! Going to take the car for a spirited drive and then wang a load of redex through the spark plug holes and leave it overnight then run a couple of bottles of water through it then next day and do an oil change because hopefully it'll be lovely and black after!
the oil on mine stays clear for at least a few thousand miles, it really amazes me. what do you think the redex will do for you?
Well, hopefully with the engine being hot, the redex will get to work overnight breaking up all the tough crap on the piston crowns, then the water through the next day will shift it all out and probably destroy my cat which will then mean i'll have to get a sports cat.. which will be a shame..
Hi guys, done the water trick and readjusted my idle speed and all seems well (plenty of smoke lol), now i need to get my hands on some ATF an oil filter and some decent engine oil, any recommendations???
i did what you guys were on about to my 16v corrado and my mk1 16v both kr's and the difference is pretty good on both, more responsive for definate! felt abit funny puttin water into my engine but all was well once i started it, just got to remember to keep the revs up, better if you have a freind to help as holding the bottle tube and throttle cang get a little tricky lol, but good post!
you wanna change the oil pretty soon after doing the water trick. id do fuel treatment, at the same time as ATF. then water treatment then oil change. and then just choose a vac hose that goes in near the throttle body. you want it to disburse evenly so just use your imagination.
you don't wanna be revving hell outta it with ATF in it tho... water treatment, ATF, then oil change. fuel treatment whenever
in all fairness, the water trick does not require the hell to be revved out of the car (2-2.5krpm on mine) as for the ATF thing. a lot of people have done 100-200 miles on it (albeit without hammering it) for it to do its job nicely.
