I'm thinking of a 3.2 conversion in my car with an Andyout OEM management loom. Apart from the obvious Engine, loom and ECU what else would I need?

DBW throttle pedal? Are they all the same?

    Clutch/flywheel? 12v ones?

Exhaust manifold, any chance of using 24v one?

Alternator bracket? Do I need one from a 2.8 24v?

What prices have people seen complete 3.2 engine go for recently?

    Thanks!!

Think Dubsport do a manifold to use in the mk2 golf for the 24v engines.

And don't forget being a 'K-reg' you need the cat's still, which I believe stock 24v engines have twin cat's but not sure how well they fit due to the size.

Funkbaron did a thread with various changes he made from going 12v to 24v

I was thinking selling my engine as a full conversion then using a V5 gearbox on the new engine (If I can ever find one!!!).

I'm not sure about the cat, I think my cars just a fake k-reg that should have been a J but was late being registered or somethink.

I've actually found an engine but from an 08reg, I believe this will make the conversion harder, any idea why?

    Yes, ine read through that.

I want to use a mk5 engine which Andyout says will be much more of a headache than a mk4 one.

mk5 has different wiring loom/connectors than the mk4 engine for items like the fuel rail/injectors and possibly more from what i've read.

And you can then use the mk5 loom? I know united motorsport can remove the immobiliser from the mk5.

The engine i've found seems excellent for the price and i'm gagging to buy it.

The Dubpower exhast shown fits fine.

    I've got one to go in my MK2 for a 2.8 24v.

I've now found out the mk5 R32 engine are FSI and would be a nightmare so I either need a mk5 engine with mk4 loom and ECU or the lot from a mk4.

The one i'm interested in is a 2007 engine, loom, ecu and 6 speed box for 1000. Does anyone think it would be worth buying that package for the engine and selling the box, loom and ECU for some cash back?

What about the Audi A3 lumps? Not sure if they were using the mk4 based lumps or went to FSI

The mk5 R32 engine is not FSI as it runs on the ME9 ECU. If it is FSI it would use the MED9 ECU.

Toureag engines are FSI along with a few other ones.

This argument went on for a while on the R32OC also

you only need to change the fuel injectors and fuel rail
the rest is the same as the mk4

one thing too watch is maf is diffrent on the mk5 its bigger and is the same as the mk4 dsg euro cars and the mk1 audi tt 3.2
and will not run without a remap on a uk spec r32 ecu

Thats excellent news, Cheers Graggsy and Mushy!!!!

So the mk5 loom and ECU can be used with the mk5 engine if I change the fuel rail and injectors to mk4 items?

A guy on Edition38 told me the same and said it was because the mk5 had no return feed on the fuel rail.

it take it you mean the mk4 ecu and loom
yes if you fit rail and injectors from a mk4 to a mk5 r32 engine it will run with the mk4 ecu and loom
