Good morning . I advice with an on going issue .Ive owned this car Mk1 golf gti running a 1.8 16v KR engine taken from a corrado . this engine has been in this car for well over 15yrs now and ruuning. The car has been in dry storage and not used for well over 20 yrs,until now. I have now got it home and in my garage. Drained fuel tank,and put in fresh fuel,changed oil,filled all cyclinders with 50mm of oil left for two days while hand cranking by hand the engine to coat cyclinders with oil. Days later put new battery on and she stared second turn of the key. Very lumpy but would tick over. so drained tank again new fuel lines fitted front to back. new fuel filter fitted . Wur stripped and cleaned as well as the metering head. Injectors were all ultra sonic cleaned . all refitted and now all that happens is she will start first turn of the key run for around 3-5 secs then die. if you touch the gas pedal she will just die,if pressed down while starting she wont even fire. changed metering head for a second unit known to be good and the same problem as above. replaced fuel pump still the same . The rad is out of car at the moment as replacing the coolant pipes. Could the fact theres no water in the cooling system cause this ?? ANY Help or advice
