This is my original Mk2 Golf Gti 16v in Tornado Red, its one of the very last being a February registered 1992 Ive owned the car a few months now and I love it too bits. I looked for months to find a 3 Door genuine 16v and I wanted one as original as possible with the correct engine and gearbox which hasnt been messed with too much. I found this car and have to say after I am so impressed with the condition of it and its not far off mint condition for a 25-year-old car. It has electric windows and power steering as standard and even has the original head unit and Fischer Cassette box in the centre console and the rainbow interior and in excellent condition (steering wheel and gearknob have been replaced with OEM versions since the interior picture) It is a used car and other than the bonnet and front wing being resprayed the bodywork is original Tornado red with an unbelievable 160,000 miles and some 8 owners who all mustve cherished it, the top end of the engine was rebuilt at 158,000 and the gearbox around 120,000. The car runs really well with no oil consumption and everything working as it should. Trying to keep the car as original as possible it does have some uprated parts, coilover suspension, Milltek stainless exhaust, G60 brakes with red painted calipars and inlet manifold painted, mirrors and smoked front indicators everything else is as Wolfsburg intended. Ive cleaned the car properly and polished and wax sealed it. Future plans are limited, I dont want to modify it further and ruin it so its just keep it nice and hopefully keep it forever as a bit of an investment as there arent too many around anymore, anyway some pictures, any comments welcome!
That's looking seriously nice hoping mines going to look very similar when its back from welders/painters in a few weeks! Looking gorgeous in RED
Never been a fan of red cars...just not my thing. THIS car could change my mind! Absolutely gorgeous!
As means of an update, added some interior pictures of my Golf below It's excellent condition inside and most importantly in original, well almost, the red stripe on the dash and door cards isn't original actually but I like it so I will stay also bought a new OEM gear knob to tidy it up a bit Even has the original head unit and Fischer tape unit, 1992 at its finest!
Minor update Been playing with my new camera so thought I'd do an do a virtual tour of the inside of the Golf: http://360-houses.co.uk/Tours/Golf/golf.html

that is stunning, where/who did you buy it from, looks like a great find! not sure on the colour coded wing mirrors though, a bit too USA for me
That is a credit to the previous owners! Very nice indeed Are you going to get to any shows this year with it?
That's absolutely beautiful!! I'm very jealous! There's an original 16v, 3dr oaky near mine which I'm trying to buy, although it's been sat for years and the guy isn't having it! I'm hoping with another persistence he'll give up and say yes
Thanks for all the kind comments guys I'm going to GTI International this year and decided to enter the car on Saturdays concourse show, I think its worth a go!
Bit of a thread update, attended GTI International over the weekend and entered concourse on the Saturday, didnt win but was up against the amazing fully restored Rallye Golf next to me which also won Best of Show for Saturday. The car received 92 out of 100 on the judging, room for improvement but quite happy with that, anyway onto some pictures: Was very pleased with the MPG driving there and back as well!
