    Seat Toledo /Leon S2000 > WTCC/BTCC ( before they went TDI )
    VW POLO S2000 > IRC
    SKODA FABIA S2000 > IRC
    VW F3 engine

All these use the N.A FSI engine as basis , its all in this tread

Is there any reason a whole alloy blocked FSi can't be used. Is that the reason we are talking about mounting the heads on older blocks?

Could an alloy engine not have new pistons fitted without the swirl chambers and then port injection etc?

Both alloy and steel blocks can be used.
Alloy blocks are relativ new to us and we dont know yet where the limit is on these...

Many have already older type steel block engines, and by dropping a set pistons in and change the head, can make serious power as the STD head flows already very well.

With pistons similar as in post 44, ITB / port injected, it should work well

i was at AET Turbo's yesterday and met Ronald Winters who runs in the Dutch Timeattack series.

He runs a MK1 TFSI on Megasquirt management. very interesting MK1 I'll post some pictures later.

Also found out that the TSFI has MAHLE Forged pistons fitted from the factory.

    Yes, 020, 02A, 02M all fit
IMO its the same alloy block as used in the ALT 20V
its just an evolution from 06A blocks

    very interesting indeed...

So assuming you guys manage to physically mate up the head onto an ABF/9a/KR, whats the situation regarding ancilleries, mainly thinking exhaust manifold?

why use the ABF block , instead of the alloy block , or standard mk5 one?
