Dont know what mine is yet, all i know is that the box was a full rebuild with a quaife diff (diff bolts not pins) but the owner done 100 miles & found out his car couldnt pull in it properlly because of his smaller engine?

Been told it has small 1,2 long 3 & overdrive 5th but this is what a 4+e box is anway i think?

In a full rebuild exactlly whats done or changed?

Hopefully it's had **at least** a 2nd gear synchro replaced and all new bearings, gaskets and seals and any other worn parts replaced as required.

Yea you need to go 55 in second to get a similar rate of acceleration in third. If you change at less than 40 the pick up in third is crap.

when tsr fitted my recon 'box (020 ACD) Tim said they'd fitted a 4+E 'box and not to worry about the car showing less on the rollers due to a taller 4th gear. I was like "jiber, jibber, you've done what?!!"

I had a 4+E 'box in my first golf (1.6 cl) and it would go quicker in 4th as 5th was way too tall for the lil 1.6 to accel in (ahh bless it :p)

Thankfully they had fitted the 'box i'd asked for...another 020 ACD and all was well. Even with the diff it would still spin up a lil in 2nd in the dry [:D]. Top speed was 129mph with my 195/45 r15 tyres ;) and would hit the limiter in top very easily.

    JESUS!!!! [:s]

There is a full Quaiife box and diff going close to me for 1200.
And i paid a bit less than what you have for mine... and it's only missing the diff.

The bushes only kit is 4.75+VAT from GSF, although they go on E bay for around 15, why people pay that I still have no idea.

The diff is about 500 new from quaife, so the other 700 is for the recon 4+E 'box and labour...
