12.3 on the same road going the other way... must have a slight gradient to it - OR that just shows how inaccurate and pointless this whole 'comparison' thing really is.

Alex - that makes me feel a bit better as I thought my modified 2L 16v was a little slow at 11 - 12 secs, sounds about right then :)

I'm running mine on 205/45/16's and it's pretty eccurate. At an indicated 100mph on the speedo I'm showing 98mph on my Road Angel

Well its all just a rough guess really going from speedos & timing with a mobile phone anyway. My 11 secs for example could really be 10 secs or 12 secs its so subject is it to inaccuracies.

However just just before that brunters Golf+ mag valver thrash we did over a yr ago I messed about self timing & got a best 0-60 of 5.9 secs with speedo & mobile phone, on same bit of road 2 ways, at brunters with the pukka daltron GPS timing gear & did 6.1, so not really that far out for that measurement anyway.

MK2 Golf, AUQ engine, running a poxy 0.7 bar.

7.14 (according to windows movie maker).

Basically the same set-up as vwboff (except he's got full boost), so unsurprisingly not too different.

A friend has an old ww2 airstrip on his farm, which is quite handy for these tests.

No problems mate, main reason i mentioned it is because everyone is always saying about how inaccurate speedo's can get when nearing or going into 3 figures ;) .

EXACTLY my point!!(if you read my posts properly)[:s] which is why its making me laugh when you get people on here throwing a tizzy when a car gets a better time then they think it should get - they're taking it from a bit of fun, to a testosterone fueled competition[:-B] so cool!

my car to mix it up a bit:

Power at Flywheel (BHP) : 250
Weight without Driver (KG) : 1300
Power to Weight Ratio (BHP Per Ton) : 195.39
    0 - 60 (Secs) : 5.75
    0 - 100 (Secs) : 13.79
    60 - 100 (Secs) : 8.05
    Quarter Mile (Secs) : 14.10
    Terminal Speed (MPH) : 101.09
Drag Strip Quarter Mile (Secs) : 13.90
Drag Strip Terminal Speed (MPH) : 102.89

Sounds about right although I recon it may just dip under 6s 0-60 (5.75 optimistic), although the best 1/4 I have achieved is 13.95 so bang on the money pretty much.

The quickest car on our forum has 500bhp, here's what the calc does:

Power at Flywheel (BHP) : 500
Weight without Driver (KG) : 1300
Power to Weight Ratio (BHP Per Ton) : 390.79
    0 - 60 (Secs) : 4.03
    0 - 100 (Secs) : 7.99
    60 - 100 (Secs) : 3.96
    Quarter Mile (Secs) : 12.13
    Terminal Speed (MPH) : 123.21
Drag Strip Quarter Mile (Secs) : 11.93
Drag Strip Terminal Speed (MPH) : 125.47

His best 1/4 mile time is 11.9 @ over 120mph, so again thats fairly accurate. Nice theoretical 60-100 time for him though! He won the top speed event for the FWD class in this years TOTB @ 167mph for a 1 mile standing start. Poxy Fiats eh......

Well mine is timed on the old mobile, and we all know stock speedo's are not dot on. Did another run just now as road was empty and got 12.6 seconds coming other way. Even with mis-timing it may do it in sub 15 seconds which is rather good.

GVK is right, its just fun.
