Just read this thread, no wonder some cops get a bad name, I honestly don't know what their agruement is. Just because he has blue lights on, or even in the event he had sirens on which he hadn't when proceeding across a junction against the red light, there is now way in hell he would have the right of way. Due to the nymber of complaints in my force, and the way they were dealt with in the past, they have brought in a new complaints procedure and department, trust me you have to be whiter than white nowadays. Re an earlier comment re cops getting off with accidents, in my force if a officer is involved in an accident where there is even the slightest hint of blame, he/she is charged straight away with the relevant offence, and a report submitted. Trust me I know about this from personal experience.
Stick it out man! and make sure you ask if the judge will let you go to the papers! this is completely f'ing obscene, this money in your life is huge, in the coppers budget its f'ing peanuts. This is the reason police get a bad name imo dunter, i feel sorry for you mate, few good coppers left have no chance against all the idiots.
You have a witness who saw the whole thing. Their defence is that the CCTV shows the whole event - which it does not. Fairly open/shut case if you ask me. Good luck

Seb, just answer me this question, would you do their job, I really gets on my wick when people bring this wide boy saxo/corsa attitude towards cops to this forum. So they never do anything valuable, you must have a very limited experience of them, if you think all they do is hit motorists. As a cop mate, and if you have read my previous post on this thread, you'll know a cops feeling towards this, and the way S1MMA has been treated.
my sympathies go out to you simma, hope it all goes your way just read this post and had a feeling from the very start of it that they were gonna try and shaft you, you gotta take this to the papers, your story alone is probably worth alot of money!!!, and you can show em up for the arrogant egotistical pricks that the magority of em are (no offence dunter1969 you seem like a level headed normal guy)
Dunter mate. You are obvioulsy an exception though. If more cops were like you this case would not have turned out like this and the driver would have put his hand up and said he was in the wrong! THe problem is that good work you do doesnt get much publicity and so the bad name comes when normal motorists get hit by speeding fines and the ever increaing number of cameras. I am not a saxo/corsa driver and dont associate myself with them so i apologise for sounding that minded! I just think this case is mad!
One of the accidents I had with a police vehicle that damaged another car, I put my hands up, that's why I got a nice Fixed Penalty Notice. I agreed with you ther are too many cops, who think they are well above the law. Apology accepted seb, but I do agree with you this case is pure madness.
