So I thought it was about time I post some pictures of my 84 gti for every one to see.

I bought it in Feb of this year with the intentions of taking it back to the US with me when/if I do have to return. I had to drive t Wales... from Suffolk to get knowing that before I could even get it home I would have to change the drivers inner CV joint. Lucky for me the guy I bought it from had the right tools and did the work too.

Some dodgy work going on but got her home just fine.

I next took it to a "guy" who does pre MOT inspections to see what it would need to pass MOT, which surprisingly wasn't too much. After 4 and a half hours trying to fit the wrong size balljoint. [:x] I paid 280 to have both balljoints, both trackrod ends, alignment, the welding and MOT.

I found some speaker door pods in the boot.

Today I got a new center console...although I'm not sure what model it's from.
removed the old standard gti center console and under dash trays

Looks clean enough, but it's a bit of a mish mash of bits aint it!

Center console is from an early C or CL spec MK2, there's a few different versions of it, I have one the same to stick my iPod in :)

yeah it's just a bit "mish mash"

I would love to put the small bumpers back on as I really don't like the big ones and I hate where the arial is! it needs a new front wing so I might just put the small bumpers on when I do that

Nice car mate. Did you use longer bolts with the spacers? i need to put 10mm spacers on mine to clear the bigger brakes that are going on - sure i read somewhere that longer bolts are needed.

:thumbup:The wheels redone in graphite or black would look sweet!

Just my two pence worth though, nice looking car

I will have to use longer bolts once I get the 10mm spacers.

I can't decide if I'm going to leave them white or paint them black. I have a little while to decide though as I'm still waiting to et spacers

Black wheels look nice on your car Dan W but i think it's a bit too much on a black car.
Where can i get longer bolts?

So the other week when I was replacing my rear brakes I had a look around the car to see if there were any issues that needed attention, while looking I saw this
    [IMG]
So I called the a friend that did the MOT work to see if he could patch it up for me. Well tonight was the night.

Started by grinding away the rust and filler
    [IMG]
    getting there
    [IMG]
this was worst than I thought, glad I caught it when I did
    [IMG]
    mmm...filler
    [IMG]
    more grinding
    [IMG]
    repair patch going on
    [IMG]
Then I found the second hole...right next to the first that we missed[:x]
this is the the first patch
    [IMG]
    second patch going on
    [IMG]
    gringing down the welds
    [IMG]
    patches done
    [IMG]
    seam sealed
    [IMG]
we also sprayed some rust protectant on but I didn't take a pic. Now I just need to get some filler and some paint. this will be a good fix for now untill I can get both sills replaced.
