I think it's possible. I was taking the g-lader off of a G60 for a friend and saw that the water pump is exactly the same. The bolts extend much further on the PG to accommodate the supercharger mount bracket. It lines up perfectly with the ABF. So, theoretically, Its possible to have a G60 ABF. Thoughts...please. because I'm about to go down this rabbit hole and run Mega squirt just to prove I can
It has been done before, I haven't seen one in a long time though. The question is.... Why? When there's better, more efficient ways to get the power?
Because it's factory VW tech and think it would be wicked to open the hood and see a g-lader with an ABF. I'm not going for ultimate power. Just something worthy of a good conversation. I'm not Set on this idea. Just noticed that it may be possible.
Oh it'd be lovely. I'd definitely like to have modern control of fuel and spark though. Have you seen this? https://www.vwvortex.com/threads/16v-g60-how-to.1784212/
Nothing new. There were VW MK3 ABF cars, you could pay VWMS to upgrade to a G60 lader and lowered compression. Some 210ps and 287Nm was said to be achieved ( slow in todays world). The original ABF XXX XXX number was re numbered into a "3G" serial number when an ABF was upgraded to G60 parts. Old KR/PL/3G bracketry was carry over. One of those engines came up for sale over on the group. www.vw-racing.org An outfit I know well, damaged a 3G engine. So I spec'd them an ABF engine to acting in the place of the 3G. As I said all the parts are carry over. I will say, there are better ways to get cylinder fill into an ABF, so do think through why you would want to spend time and resource in the direction above.
