Atlas grey mk2 abf kjetronic.

Hello! My name is Ivn im a spanish volkswagen fan, i have been reading this forumon shadows for years, and now i think its time for presentation.

This is my second atlas grey mk2, some years ago I had a pb swapped to an abf (digifant), but unfortunately I loosed it on an accident.

Since that day i have missed it a lot, it was a great car with a lot of mods, which i had to sell in that moment

But some years later looking on secondhand cars websites on my country I found and advertisement of a atlas grey kr very closed to my city, I called to the owner and next day i was seeing it![:D]

This was what I found:

Not on her best times I think it looks really bad, a lot of electrical faults, missed pieces etc.. but after haggle the price with the owner i bought it:thumbup:

its not finished but I started the protect on march of this year.

I forget to say that, the engine has 1mm of squish abfcams, 11 degrees for ignition timing, pressure fuel is 5.5 and on the wur 3.3 I dont know if this is the corret set up for the engine, it smells to fuel a lot and I can see black smoke on the back.

On the other hand i hoped it will be a little faster it goes like my old abf with digifant more or less.

Hi all, some pictures from this weekend In Matilla 1/4 mille races:

My best mark has been 15.2 sg without RT with these tires and without seats:

Here a plot from an accelerometer app:
163 bhp and 143 lft

I think I can get a bit more from the engine, I have bought an AFR gauge and a knock sensor light for adjusting property the kjetronic.

Knock sense light is like this:

And im thinking on upgrades for the engine a new gearbox (02s gxv) and maybe diesel crankshaft and machine pistons or 83.5 je pistons I don't know.

On the other hand im using a exhaust system with the same size of stock one 55mm, i don't know if i need to change it for a bigger one or if it is enough.

Cheers!

golf 2.0 16v new abf

Hi all!

Last weekend I have been in a circuit with my golf, and at the end of the track day my engine has started to burn oil and the power lost were very notable.

When I rebuilt the engine I noticed that cylinders werent in their best (too much km).

So i just get a new abf lump:

The cylinders look very good![:D]

Im going to porte and to polish the head myself, some advice? I though to open the ports to the gaskets size but i have just noticed that the head and gasket size is the same! so know i have no idea about how to open the head and gaskets (admision and exhaust).

Hogging out the ports does very little on a stock ABF engine. Best left alone.

Car looks pretty decent!

At the end I rebiuld new abf with stock parts, tdi crankshaft it saved on garage, maybe on future will be usefull for something.

New upgrade was to change old 020 gearbox to a new 02j 6v gearbox, with vr6 clutch and cable acconator.

For fit it on golf i used a 02a gearbox case.

Here you have some pictures of the process:

speed 02a ring fitted for using g60 speed cable:

looks it works...
ready for fitting on car!

I had problem with selector but know it is solved!

Now i am changing the kjetornic, i had problem with fuelling on high rpm, engine run very lean even with wur mod, so i am going to fit a standalone ecu, i donĀ“t know if a megasquirt or an ecumaster.

Even i have doubts on what kind of injection using if a secuential or no secuential injection, and if letting the stock dizzy or use a coil pack....

Ivan.
