    Hi,
Audi took a tall block 2.0 058 block, and put a similar/identical header to it, known as 'ACE' (if memory serves me right).
This engine was indeed a mid-90s item, as it was featured in the homologation model Audi 80 competition - basically an Audi S2 limo with 2.0 16V N/A engine.

From this, Audi then continued to develop their special blocks (bore x stroke is different, heavily reworked header and piping, +++) as they finally had a market offering opening for such configuration in motorsport. Earlier models' headers makes me think of the Polo 1.4/1.6 16V from the valve cover(s), but the latter 'Step's (1-9) were getting more carbon fibre details to them. May be all the extreme work put into it makes it unfamiliar, i.e. grinding the surface on a tilt to improve valve angles, etc...

NB! Audi V8 is DTM, not STW.This I would say has a header closer in relation to the 16V roadgoing headers (not so extreme measures done to it).

Hugo, was that part a VW sort of one off item or from a one of their 'works' supplier?

    Hi there,

Long time "lurker" here and I felt the need to comment.

Does anyone by chance have any engine dyno data from the STW engine? I am doing a project with a bunch of other guys and this kind of information could prove very valuable if available.

    Thanks,

    Ben.

I see the OP has been banned from here, meaning the starting post will no longer be updated.

Is there someone who wants to and is able to do so though? We've collected so much info in here about the engine(s), it'd be a shame if it ended up being a horribly chaotic thread where valuable info is spread out over 50 pages.

Last month I pulled the cover off of my PT/ACE Frankenstein-child again!

Think we are still a few miles away from the 50 page mark on this tread ...
and its only the last 2 pages of this tread that have not been updated on page 1, and yes we can update when needed

I have corrected some info in my own posts over the past years as it changes by ongoing insight OR when new info become availlable
Going back over some pages, ive seen a few more things that need corrected ..like port dimensions, Conrod lenght and weight...
Also some missing pictures have been repaired or replaced in the past years

Got a chance to purchase this.

What would it be worth, and would it be properly driveable for everyday? Would modern butterfly itbs make more (usable) power and torque?

Seller claims they are original STW slide tbs from Audi.

    Its indeed from Audi STW

Slide Trottles need frequent maintenance ....and they dont accept dirt inside... as they can stick open...
And its not the best for part trottle use, for road use i would use more traditional itb`s

About power output.. there wont be much between slide and itb`s, atleast not for streetable power levels

Hmm... alright, so better invest the money in a set of butterflies I guess.... would've been cool, since I already got the same block and head the STW used, to also use the correct throttle bodies. The car will be an every-day kinda ride, so driveabillity would still be one of the main demands of the build.

Any idea what the going-for-rate of these would be though? The guy has had them for sale for quite a while now, but I also don't really wanna low-ball him with a plain stupid offer.

Last set I saw was about 2k in Germany as I recall. Any historic Motorsport stuff is expensive these days. Nice kit though, I have a set on shelf here for a race motor when I get a chance to get to it.
