Auto to Manual

    hello all i know a friend who has a mint mk2 that he wants to sell but its auto :cry: so how easy it to convert to manual and what things do i need.

    not particularly difficult, just a lot of parts to source:
    pedal box
    gearbox
    speedometer, clutch and accellerator cables
    full gear selector front to back
    all 3 engine brackets
    clutch kit + flywheel

    Driveshafts may be needed depending on what gearbox you end up with, auto shafts have 90mm cv joints and gti box needs 100mm

    Throttle linkage will be different for a manual too - autos have a pedal side cable to the gearbox then a bowden cable that goes from the box to the throttle (for kickdown one would assume).

    Let me know how you get on, I'm thinking of doing the same.

    I think i might just give it a miss its too much work and money but wish you good luck
