last time i asked for a mk2, it came at 28! mine had to come in the bath with me to get the rice out! all the dirt/sludge is out, the plastic is past it though
Yep, just checked ETOS, mk4 bottles (which I needed) are 9.32 +VAT but mk2 bottles are 29.45 +VAT (why the massive price difference I don't know)....worth jumping in the bath with afterall
yes the idea is to work quickly, dont let the rice absorb the water. i left mine in the corner and forgot about it, had to throw that one away altertnatively, get a MK4 header tank & cap from VW, chop level sensor plug off a car in scrappy. Much cheaper than a new MK2/3 tank from VAG and better cap, fits right on
I cleaned my Caddy expansion tank last night, and it worked a treat. Pillowcase - put half a bag of rice in it. Expansion tank - put the other half in it and the cap on. Put the tank in the pillowcase, tie it up nicely so nothing can get out and quite close so there isn't a lot of spare space, and wash at 40 degrees with biological powder. It looks like new now, but I expect will stain more easily in the future due to the abrasion. Did the same with a plastic chainsaw part, it had gone a bit yellow, and it cleaned up a treat as well. At your own risk if your missus finds out what that odd noise in the machine is.
waterpump would mince it up, i imagine the end result woudl be close to risotto main issue would be it would completly clog the matrix, so you would have to bypass that. seriously though bio washing powder in the coolant system works an absolute treat
well its easy really, drain it, flush with hosepipe to get worst o crud out, fill with plain water and cupfull of bio powder. run it till hot, allow tro cool, drain, flush. repeat as required works especially well at getting oil out of the coolant system if say you had an oil cooler failure

appaers to be a direct bolt on fitment for a 90spec header tank, got the idea off the corrado forum. the only difference is the level sensor plug, looking at it if you have a 90spec the pins from the old plug will clip right into the MK4 plug, but I've not actually tried this bit for myself. for a pre-90- it involves same mods required to fit a 90spec tank, fit 90spec bracket somehow then drop tank on, then solder MK4 plug onto pre-90 wires! clickity

so the mk4 item slips straight into the mk2 bracket, and you just have to adapt the sensor plug? sounds better than spending an extra 15 on mk2 stuff! even a febi item is more than an oe mk4 tank
completed this today. with a few new clips, hose and g12+, it came in at under 25! the brackett had to be modified slightly
