yea they do cause there alot thinner than standard and they dont have the big dish at the bottom that the standard spring sits in i no what your sayin bwt not been a big chore but still its put me well off ive soon on ebay the coilover spring kits for mk 2 only 69 quid they look good
dont let it put you off, i checked mine the other day and they are still mint, 'socks' are the way forward in protection... and grease!! stiffer damping will stop the rear wheels rubbin aswell...go for the coilovers its money well spent. andy
simple but effective, im still tryin to identify mine tho... still need to post pix for some help andy
I just went to adjust my Konis after a year of not touching them, they moved like they were new, just had to give a quick wipe off with the old copper grease and that was it
The white chain wax is called White Lightning not the cidar BTW its last months on my bike and ive ridden through rivers and its still good
I had my Konis off to do the top mounts recently. Was dreading what I might find, but they were like new, under the grease. Wasn`t adjusting them, but tried the collars just to see if they were free, and it was as if they`d been fitted the day before, not two years ago...
molycote dry film lubricant is the way to go i think . any px28 or 32 and even jc5 will atrract grease etc and be no good in my eyes . socks are a no no also as they will/ are water traps . http://www.dowcorning.com/applications/search/default.aspx?R=740EN&DCCSF=380EN
Look at my pics on page 2... That was the condition after two years, using copper grease. They looked extremely dirty, since I used to drive down a dirt track to work everyday, but the grease had protected them perfectly.
Looks like the copper grease done the job then, all going well im going to fit my coilies tommorow as long as the weather holds out. Other than the copper grease any other tips?
hi i have just bought a set of coilovers form hottuning not fitted just yet im glad I have been sent this thread to read so would i be ok caking copperslip on the threads and wrapping clingfilm over it
just goning to fit coilovers to my bros civic, glad i read this 1st, conna cover them in coppergrease as theres some in the shed, ta guys
what about motorcross bike inner tubes? once they`re waxed/greased up they`d keep all the crap out. only downside would be a nightmare to fit. plus they would`nt be water traps they`d have to let some in first.
You could try using that "paint on latex" you can buy for errr fun things! It should peel off easily enough when you're done.
